‘God, here I am! I am coming to obey your will.’ (Hebrews 10:7)
20th December 2018
The reading from the
letter to the Hebrews celebrates Jesus’ perfect obedience to the Father’s
will in every aspect of his birth, life and death. ‘Will’ is a difficult word
for us suggesting a whole list of ‘oughts’ and ‘shoulds’. Desire may be a
better word. Throughout his life, Jesus’ total union with
God’s desires enabled him to meet the challenges of the world. Where do
my desires spring from? How can I centre them on God so I can lead the life
God desires for me? Culled from the Diocesan Spirituality Commission Reflections on Advent |
