Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugee is a local charity helping to support refugees resettling in the Sevenoaks district, as part of the UK Government's refugee resettlement schemes. We help to support the resettlement of refugee families from Syria and Afghanistan now living in Sevenoaks town, Swanley, New Ash Green, Kemsing, and Eynsford. We provide local practical support - welcoming, help with learning English, finding jobs, help to settle to a different way of life etc – and we make small welfare grants.
We are particularly keen to recruit volunteers where families have recently arrived. We also need rental properties for family housing; an attractive Government package is on offer for any private landlord able to help.
